The Aggression Blueprint

$1890

This 18 session program addresses aggression in dogs who have bitten or attempted to bite humans or other animals.

This is not a quick fix, this is training that works in reality.

Good Dogs with tough problems

The Aggression Blueprint is designed to maximize safety, control, and freedom. If you love your dog but are struggling with their behavior, we can help

What’s the aggression blueprint?

  1. Educate the handler

First, we educate you on how to take an active role in understanding, managing, and being a leader for the dog you have.

  2. develop control

Next, we will teach your dog to make better choices. Advanced obedience gives us functional control.

  3. change Perception

We will change your dog’s perception by showing them that aggression no longer works. The dog is repeatedly brought into the presence of his triggers and expected to remain obedient.

  4. Maintenance

Going forwards, the handler is given the tools to maintain preferred behaviors in their dog.

“I’ve failed with other trainers before…”

It’s common for handlers with aggressive dogs to try multiple trainers without success.

common failed approaches:

“Distract the dog with high-value treats. Then get closer to the trigger over time."

  • The Problem: Many aggressive behaviors are more rewarding to the dog than a treat could ever be. Additionally, progressive exposure only works if the dog is willing to engage in an alternative behavior to the aggression.

“Put an e-collar on the dog. When they show aggression, stim them until they stop.”

  • The Problem: Suppressing aggression in the moment is not a long term solution and can lead to handler redirection, flight, or freeze response. Proper correction involves first teaching the dog how to escape and avoid the punishment.

“Roll your dog on their back to show them you’re the boss.”

  • The Problem: This is not dominance, this is silly. Dominance to a dog is about who controls the resources (food, attention, resting places, toys). Engaging in physical conflict with your dog will only reinforce that you are someone to put teeth on because you are a threat.

None of these methods account for how dogs think, the handler’s role as a leader, or the dog’s drives. At Reality K9, understand that behavior doesn’t occur in a vacuum.

FAQs

What if my dog Tries to bite you?

1

We have a safety plan going into training sessions to ensure everyone remains secure. This may include muzzles, back ties, physical barriers, and bite-proof clothing.

Do you Offer board & Trains for aggression?

2

No, because it wouldn’t be as effective. Aggression is ALWAYS most effectively addressed via the handler within the daily context of the home. This is because leadership is an essential piece. The dog has a relationship with YOU, not me.

Will you use e-collars/training collars?

3

Yes. Properly-introduced aversives are essential for functional control. Read Our Training Methodology for details on how we use training collars.
